Sustainability and ESG

International Graphite plans to be a leader in Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) performance to minimise business risk and maximise the value we contribute to our world.

Batteries, and the commodities to make them, are key to saving the planet from the devastating impacts of global warming. International Graphite is developing a new, sustainable supply of battery anode graphite to drive global decarbonisation and transform the transport and power industries.

As pioneers in a new industry, International Graphite brings a wealth of Australian mining and engineering knowhow to the battery graphite supply chain. We want to ensure the industry delivers real social and environmental benefit and that it is founded on progressive, robust environmental, social and governance (ESG) processes. We want to set the standard and we are aiming high.

  • We are developing advanced manufacturing processes to minimise our environmental footprint and employ new technologies that are environmentally responsive.
  • We are playing an active role in our local communities and we expect our operations to bring jobs and opportunity.
  • We are committed to establishing a high performance and sustainable operation driven by exemplary standards of efficiency, safety and governance.
  • And by doing this, we are confident of building long-term value for our shareholders and supporters.

Working for the Environment

As engineering innovators, International Graphite is working to develop the next generation in advanced, lower impact graphite processing. We are collaborating with global industry leaders to find a better way to produce the graphite products essential for the sustainable energy revolution.

Working with Communities

International Graphite’s mine to market operations are expected to bring new jobs, new opportunities and significant benefit to the communities in which we operate. It is a privilege and a responsibility we take very seriously. We are establishing strong and positive relationships with our stakeholders, particularly in our regional communities in Western Australia.

Working with Government

Our business supports the Australian Government’s strategy to build a sovereign critical minerals powerhouse and the Western Australian Government’s vision to develop a world class renewable energy and battery hub, around Collie. In 2021, the WA Government saw the potential and invested A$2M to help establish our first micronising plant. In May 2023, the Australian Government contributed A$4.7M to expand the micronising plant design and support feasibility studies to help fasttrack the production of battery anode material at Collie.

Working for sustainability

The ethical graphite supply chain we are developing is guided by the principles of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. The goals are the blueprint for a more sustainable future and we acknowledge the role we play in upholding and contributing to these values across our operations which are wholly based in Western Australia – one of the most advanced and trusted resource provinces in the world.
