Operations

A staged development plan will enable International Graphite to rapidly respond to market needs and capture the full potential of the graphite value chain.

International Graphite is rapidly developing as a mine-to-market graphite supplier and one of the first Australian companies manufacturing midstream graphite products to exacting customer standards.

We are working to build a global network of production facilities in low-risk, high value locations with an emphasis on low initial capital cost, fast-to-market revenue and staged expansion. These will produce an extensive range of processed graphite products in a production flow designed to extract full value from the graphite resource.

At the centre of our vision is the planned development of a graphite mine at Springdale, in Western Australia, one of the world’s most attractive locations for resource investment. Springdale will ensure we have a reliable, long-term source of quality natural flake feedstock for downstream processing, and will give our customers the confidence of a complete mine-to-market supply.

Highly encouraging findings from the Springdale-Collie Integrated Mine to Market Scoping Study, released in January 2024, show the integrated operation is expected to have a globally competitive cost structure and robust economics. Download the investor presentation.

Research and development

Our pilot plant facilities at Collie, in Western Australia, have been the centre of our research and development program for the past six years. It is designed to:

  • Demonstrate the Company’s ability to produce a high quality material suitable for industrial applications and battery anode material
  • Support the design and development of a commercial line of micronised graphite, with the commercial plant currently under construction
  • Begin establishing International Graphite’s presence in the graphite marketplace providing sample material for customer qualification and testing
  • Build operating expertise in graphite product handling and packaging
  • Assist in the development of a process for the advanced purification of graphite concentrates

Downstream Graphite Processing at Collie

A qualification scale graphite processing facility has been operating at Collie since 2023. The plant is the most advanced and largest known facility of its type in Australia and is the first stage in the company’s roadmap to full-scale commercial production. A 4,000 tonnes per annum commercial scale graphite micronising plant is currently being developed across the road in the Collie Light INdustrial Area.

Strategic Project Location

Our vertically integrated operations are headquartered in the resource-rich province of Western Australia, noted as the world’s premier jurisdiction for resource investment. Our new downstream graphite processing facility at Collie is less than 200km from the WA capital of Perth, in the centre of the growing South West industrial region. Collie is 450km by road from the company’s Springdale Graphite Project, near Hopetoun, on WA’s south coast.

Resource Development at Springdale

International Graphite is progressing feasibility studies for a new graphite mine on the Company’s resource-rich tenements at Springdale, in Western Australia. A maiden drilling program has identified significant new high grade graphite intersections and the company plans to establish an open cut mine that will produce graphite concentrates as feedstock for its downstream processing operations.
